“The Emotion Word List” challenges use to articulate how we really feel with laser precision. The column headers are go-to words we use everyday to describe our emotional state — but look more closely, find the word or words to fine tune your description.
Next, “The Needs List” allows you to get to know you better. What does your gut tell you you need based on your more precisely identified emotions? After some practice, your new found awareness will provide patterns about your emotions and needs. Imagine that? Some predictability, common language and skills in identifying your needs based on your truest emotional experience.
This is just one of the key foundational strategies I teach my clients. When we can more accurately identify how we feel and what we need, we are on the path to more connection and ease in our relationship with ourself and others.
